Get Your Diet & Fitness Routine On Track
In order to maintain a healthy life and live to a ripe old age, you need ensure you are eating a good diet and exercising. Don’t be fooled into thinking that diet and fitness are one and the same. You could have the best fitness routine and work consistently at it week in and week out, but your diet could be very unhealthy. At the same time you could be eating a healthy balance diet but your fitness routine is non-existent.
You can of course lose weight by changing your diet, although it will take you longer than if you exercised and dieted at the same time. A lot of people have good fitness levels but need to lose that extra bit of weight. The saying “we are what we eat” is very true.
Consuming a lot of bad fat and not balancing it with quality, healthy food, our body will miss the fuel needed to burn the fat. Feeding your body with the tools to build muscle is very important, as it will boost the body’s ability to burn fat. If you also exercise, you will have the perfect recipe for success. But you can’t do one without the other. So when it comes to diet and fitness, the results will only work when you take action on all of the aspects outlined above.
When you have a fitness regime in place you will work off any unwanted calories. This combined with providing your body with a diet full of nutrients will lead to that goal of building muscle. There is a myth that says a pound of muscle weighs less than a pound of fat. If you think about it this does not make sense as a pound of muscle and a pound of fat still weigh a pound. What is noticeable though is that a pound of muscle is less bulky, so takes up less room on the body than a pound of fat. Having said that I know what I would prefer, that being a pound of muscle! If your goal is to build muscle you will need to eat a proper balanced diet and exercise.
Don’t be alarmed if you notice that you are not losing weight. When you start to build muscle and burn off fat stores, it is far better to notice the change in shape and the shedding of inches. It is important not to put all of your focus on the scales alone. Weight fluctuates and is not a true measure of how your body is changing for the better. A common reason for failure is the frustration of not seeing instant results. A better way to gauge your progress is to measure your waist, arms, thighs and chest weekly. You will soon know if you are losing fat by the fit of your clothes. Think about how fit you are now feeling not by how much you weigh.
When you are exercising and eating correctly, you are allowing your body to become a fat burning furnace making weight loss so much easier. So if you do fancy a bit of chocolate, it is not the end of the world to have a small piece. Just remember to work a bit harder at your fitness routine to compensate. Don’t fall off the wagon every day though, as this could set you up for failure. Every so often won’t hurt, so don’t beat yourself up about it.
Think of your diet and fitness as a marriage made in heaven. Whilst you will get results doing just one or the other, you will get exceptional results when putting the two together. It is hard to change your lifestyle, but it can be a change that is only for the better and the health benefits far outweigh the inconvenience. So go on give it a go and achieve your goals.
